In late 2022, I left my short-lived career as a public interest lawyer to pursue my goal of becoming an archivist. I loved helping people through the law, but I burned out quickly. I started law school ten years ago, and in my first semester I began thinking about library school when I learned law librarians have law and MLIS degrees. While law librarianship is not the route I have explicitly pursued, I am grateful that it led me here.<\/p>\n
I have learned so much in the past two years, and I am extremely grateful to all of my professors and classmates for helping me get here. While I have been interested in some areas of LIS, like archives in general, throughout my time here, I have also discovered some new interests. As someone with a Bachelor\u2019s degree in sociology, I found learning about information communities and how<\/em>\u00a0people learn to be especially fascinating. While taking INFO 285, I realized just how much I love researching and preserving web archives. Publishing my first article this year in Archeota<\/em>\u00a0showed me how passionate I am about researching and writing.<\/p>\n I hope to find a position where I can perform archival or digital preservation work, but whatever the future brings me, I am so happy I got my MLIS education at San Jose State.
